Clarkston High School bond

The Clarkston School District has unveiled a new website this week to provide information and answer questions about the upcoming school bond, slated to arrive in voters’ hands in April 2023. The website includes virtual images of the inside and outside of the building. It also contains a list of frequently asked questions and four links for users to visit that show a virtual reality (VR) representation of a classroom, science lab, learning commons, and a career and technical education (CTE) space. In November of 2022, the school board unanimously passed a bond resolution outlining the following:

What:
Complete the plan to build a new high school designed to prepare students for academic opportunities and careers

Why:

  • Quality facilities for quality education
  • Safe and secure campus
  • Improved career and technical education classrooms
  • Expanded space for community use

Where:

  • Downtown site and location of 1923 Charles Francis Adams building
  • CHS auditorium constructed on the Clarkston campus in 2000
  • Athletic fields will remain on same site

When:
Voters will find this measure on the April 25, 2023 ballot

Through this bond, the Clarkston School District will continue Clarkston's commitment to replace our aging high school building with a school built to today's safety standards and equipped for today's learning.

The original Charles Francis Adams Clarkston High School was built in 1923 and was expanded in 1955. The campus consists of five buildings with multiple points of entry. The proposed building will retain the Adams building and reduce external entrances from fifty-three to three. Should the measure pass in April 2023, the new facility would open in 2027-2028. Capital construction bonds require a 60% approval rate by voters.
